National Zoological Park

Description

The national zoological park ( Zoo ) is also known as 'chidiya Ghar'. The zoo is Near Pragati Maidan, Mathura Road, New Delhi No one can forget visiting the super-fascinating “Chidiya-Ghar” during the childhood. It is an absolute fact that kids are mad for animals and zoo. A zoo is a place that is adored by everyone. Almost every Delhiite has visited the National Zoological Park at least once in a lifetime. A zoo is one of the perfect picnic spots in the Delhi.

History

The Delhi zoo came many years later after New Delhi was built. Although the idea to have a zoo at the Delhi was mooted in 1951, the park was inaugurated in November 1959. Indian Board for Wildlife created a committee IN 1952 to look into creating a zoo for Delhi. In 1953 the committee gives the location for the zoo, and in October 1955 it assigned N. D. Bachkheti of the Indian Forest Service to manage the creation of the zoo. The zoo is part of saving breeding programs of the Central Zoo Authority for the Royal Bengal tiger, swamp deer, Indian rhinoceros, brow-antlered deer, Asiatic lion, and red jungle fowl. Thus this conservation inspires us to do our best in anyhow for the survival of animals in our surrounding at least.

From the very beginning, the Zoo entrance depicts the exhibits. Going to the right from the entrance brings visitors to the close to animals like the chimpanzee, hippopotamus, spider, monkey, African wild buffalo, Giraffes, Gir lion, and Zebras. But on Going to the left, visitors will see animals like migratory birds like peafowl, and well as hyenas, macaques, and jaguars in the swamps that were designed for water birds. In the centre of zoo there is the underground reptile house.
